Here's a list of the course assignments:

Week 4: Post by 9/29/2011 and respond to peers by 10/1/2011
Begin to develop storyboard and post to your page as you work on it.
  • Need: What problem or need existed that gave rise to your innovation?
  • Research: What research organization or people developed a solution to this problem or need? What were their findings? Who were the “lead thinkers” for this innovation, and how did they convince a manufacturer to produce it?
  • Development: What problems did your innovation encounter in the development process? Who was the intended audience for your innovation?
  • Commercialization: Describe the production, manufacturing, packaging, marketing, and distribution of your innovation.

Week 5: Post by 10/6/2011 and respond to peers by 10/8/2011
  • In your storyboard, show the time line your innovation followed for each stage and the communication channels that worked best for the decision to adopt.

Week 6: Post by 10/13/2011 and respond to peers by 10/15/2011
  • Add your S-Curve to the storyboard for your presentation, along with a brief explanation of what the data demonstrates.

Week 7: Post by 10/20/2011 and respond to peers by 10/22/2011
  • Who would you expect to be (or who are) the innovators and early adopters in your field of work for the innovation you are exploring? What strategies are the most persuasive in convincing them to adopt the innovation?
  • Who do you think would be (or who are) the laggards in terms of rejecting the innovation? What strategies would be best to help move them toward adoption?
  • Which combination of perceived attributes would be best for helping your innovation meet critical mass in your industry?

Week 8: Post by 10/27/2011 and respond to peers by 10/29/2011
This week, you will continue to storyboard your presentation and begin to transfer it to the medium you have selected (e.g., PowerPoint® or video). Based on what you studied this week about critical mass and change agents, consider the following questions and include your responses in your presentation:
  • Do you believe a centralized or decentralized approach would work best for the adoption of the innovation you are proposing to the Board of Directors?
  • Who will you recommend as key change agents in your organization, and how can the seven roles of a change agent be used in your organization to effect positive social change?
  • Has the innovation you are proposing to the Board already met critical mass in society? If it has not met critical mass, which of the four strategies for achieving critical mass do you recommend to the Board for your innovation?

Week 9: Post by 11/2/2011 and respond to peers by 11/5/2011
Reflect on what you discovered about the role of the champion in order to set the agenda for your organization by:
  • Defining the need for your innovation, and
  • Matching your innovation to that need.

Week 10:
  • This week, you will complete your multimedia presentation for your Board of Directors. Make sure it is well-developed, complete, and as clean as possible. It is due next week.

Week 11: Upload your project by 11/20/2011
  • Your multimedia presentation is due. To embed your presentation in your Wiki, you must first post it in a Web site like GoogleDocs, GoogleVideo, SlideShare, or another Web site of your choosing. Use the embed code from the Web site to embed your presentation in your Wiki.

Week 12:
  • Watch the multimedia presentations developed by members of your learning community and leave comments for them about the success of their final projects in the group Wiki.
